Formed in 2004, Cardiff City
Rowing Club (CCRC) operates on some of the best water in the country. Starting
from a small core of ex- Welsh Squad rowers the club is rapidly
developing into a performance orientated club with the aim of
realising the potential of rowing in South Wales.
The club is based at the Cardiff
Yacht Club, providing access to miles and miles of training on
the Bay and the Rivers Taff and Ely. The River Taff reaches
into the centre of Cardiff, passing alongside Cardiff Castle and
the Wales Millennium Stadium before reaching out into Cardiff
Bay and the multi- lane rowing course, providing water for every
phase of training.
All full members of CCRC are
based at Cardiff Yacht Club which provides modern changing rooms,
showers, meeting rooms and bar sought after by many clubs.
The club is developing
its facilities and boat fleet with the aid of significant grant
funding from the Sports Council for Wales (SCW). The grant
will enable the club to order a large fleet of boats to help achieve
its performance goals of maximising the potential for rowers and
scullers from South Wales.
With Sports Council
funding, CCRC has the opportunity to develop rowing in the local
community. The development of landing stages, coaching launches
and expansion in our fleet enables the club to take on athletes
who get a taste for the sport via the learn to row schemes, operated
by the nearby Channel View Watersports Centre
